Dear HWNI community,

Please join us in welcoming Imran Khan to the UC Berkeley Neuroscience community! Imran has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics (BCSP), effective May 19, 2022. Imran comes to the BCSP with a background in leading institutions that combine science with social impact. He previously served as CEO of the British Science Association, and as Head of Public Engagement for Wellcome — the world’s second-largest scientific foundation — before moving to the Bay Area in 2020.

He’s spoken at events including the World Economic Forum and Aspen Ideas Festival and has been published in The Times of London, the Financial Times, and Nature. Imran is fascinated by the scientific, social, and health implications of psychedelics and has been working with the TrPR psychedelic program at UCSF since 2021.

Imran gained his BA in Biology from the University of Oxford, his MSc in Science Communication from Imperial College London, and an MBA from Bayes Business School, London. He lives on a floating home in Sausalito with his wife and dog, and he spends his free time trail-running in the Marin headlands, rock climbing, gaming, and enjoying science fiction. You can find him on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Sincerely,

Michael Silver, BCSP Director
