Dear Neuroscience students, postdocs, and faculty,
I am thrilled to announce that Leleña Avila will be joining the Berkeley Neuroscience community as Neuroscience PhD Program Manager! Leleña comes to us from the Rausser College of Natural Resources on campus, where she has been an Academic Advisor in the Office of Instruction & Student Affairs. Leleña also brings additional managerial and student affairs experience from her time working in the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, the Haas School of Business, and the Lawrence Hall of Science. She holds a Master’s degree in Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior, and a PhD in Biology.
All of us that were involved in the search process for the Program Manager position were extremely impressed with Leleña, and we were delighted when she accepted our offer. Her start date in HWNI is December 1, but she will be at 50% time through the end of December and 100% after that. We will be scheduling meetings in December for her to begin getting to know the students in our program. For now, please join me in welcoming Leleña to the Berkeley Neuroscience community!
Michael Silver, Neuroscience PhD Program Director
